Meet JNCG Specialist Kendall Morrison

Specialist Kendall Morrison is no stranger to helping others find employment. Before joining CISNC as a Jobs for North Carolina’s Graduates (JNCG) Specialist, he worked in the career services department at Miller Mott College. “I really loved helping people figure out what was next and seeing the excitement of them getting a job. It meant a lot to know I was the person who helped them. I love that.”

That role is what called him to mentorship. When he saw his current position at Purnell Swett High School being advertised, he was excited to apply. “I jumped on this opportunity because it felt like the best of both worlds. I can help students get into college and show them what career opportunities are available locally.”

His work at Purnell Swett extends outside of his JNCG classroom. As the founder of the Black Student Union, he reaches out to students in all grade levels, offering a sense of belonging.

Mr. Clyde Leviner, principal of Purnell Swett High School, credits Kendall for creating an inviting and welcoming atmosphere at the school. “Mr. Morrison does an outstanding job working with our students.” Principal Leviner remarks. “He is mindful of their diverse backgrounds and understands the challenges they may face.” Since Kendall joined the team, the school has increased their graduation rate. Mr. Leviner credits Kendall as a key piece of this success.

Just as he encourages students, Kendall is committed to growing and learning.  He is currently working toward IT certifications to strengthen his knowledge of AI tools. He has seen the impact in classrooms and wants to understand the technology.

As Kendall prepares seniors for graduation, he shares this message: “Remember that success is not defined by a single path — it is built through determination, resilience, and the courage to believe in yourself even when things feel uncertain. Whether your journey leads you to college, the workforce, the military, entrepreneurship, or a trade, your future is full of obtainable possibilities.”
