Why Partnering With Businesses Is Crucial For Schools

“Children are the future”—catchy cliché? Perhaps. But fortunately, this sentiment still invigorates those who are working tirelessly to engage and empower students to reach their full potential and achieve success. Empowering students is the goal of Communities in Schools of North Carolina (CISNC). Dr. Eric Hall, president and CEO, says, “We know that for students to reach their full potential we have to work with them academically and emotionally.” The organization specializes in identifying and meeting those needs, while partnering with businesses that are committed to fostering the next generation.

Dr. Hall applauds State Farm Insurance, which just invested in a low performing school in Alamance County. Because of that investment, the district was able to hire a Student Support Specialist, who is trained to identify a student’s risk factors and help resolve them.

AT&T, another major supporter of student empowerment, has created apprentice programs to encourage long-term employment possibilities. Through these internships, students will get hands-on experience that encourages team-building, responsibility and personal growth.

Educators and business leaders from across the state will share their valuable experiences in creating formative bonds between schools, students and businesses at the 2016 Conference on Education. One stimulating panel discussion titled “Innovative Practices for Ensuring all Students have the Opportunity to Succeed” will focus on the importance of investing in the next generation “…so they can be productive members of our society, the next generation of our consumers, and the next generation of tax producers,” states Dr. Hall.

Education Makes NC Work.

Hear Dr. Hall and other education thought leaders at the Conference on Education held Thursday, August 18, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham, N.C. At this event, both educators and business leaders will share ideas on the roles each can play in ensuring our future success. Click here for more information on the event agenda.
