Power of One Award
H. Glenn Williams was a long-time CIS volunteer and champion
for children across North Carolina. Glenn was gracious and good-natured,
and always had a friendly smile or a kind word ready for everyone. Because
he was a man of faith, he brought joy wherever he went and found joy
in everything he did, particularly in the smiles of the children he
worked to help. He gave so many moments, days and years to help people.
No task was too small or too large, and Glenn always helped with incredible
enthusiasm. Glenn was an inspiration to everyone who knew him and exemplified
the "Power of One."
For more than five years, the H. Glenn Williams Power of One Award
has honored individuals, corporations and organizations across the state
that have positively impacted the lives of North Carolina youth. Nominees
are not required to have been involved with Communities In Schools,
but should have demonstrated contributions of time and/or resources
to educational efforts in North Carolina. A distinguished panel of North
Carolina leaders will select Power of One Award recipients, who will
be honored at a reception in the fall. In addition, a $1,000 contribution
will be made in their name to the charity of their choice.
We invite citizens across North Carolina to nominate an individual,
organization or corporation for the awards. A short nomination form
can be found below and must be received by July 29, 2010. Nominations
may be emailed or faxed to Erica Rafferty at erafferty@cisnc.org or
(919) 832-5436 . If you have questions regarding the nomination process,
please contact Erica Rafferty at (919) 832-2700, ext. 106.
We are proud to once again present the H. Glenn Williams Power of One
Awards, and we welcome your nominations.
